FAMILY OF ROTARY

Our membership cares deeply about the needs and concerns of our members. We don’t want to miss an opportunity to reach out in friendship when such concerns arise. The chairperson of this committee is Lynn Dunn and all news should be directed to her at lynn.dunn@rmcpa.com

President's Message

Making a significant impact in Behavioral Health.

This week we heard once again from our friends from WellStar about the effects of the COVID pandemic on our school-aged children and the growing need to address our behavioral health issues within our community and beyond. Our community impact project will exercise the power of Rotary together with the WellStar organization in a three-phased project. 1. Develop a series of podcasts highlighting students' and parents' voices in our community. 2. Develop a series of videos utilizing the same format but expanding the power of visuals to attract more attention to our target market. 3. Leverage our findings at WellStar by branding the new emergency family waiting room the "Roswell Rotary Room."

This project offers us, as Rotarians, the opportunity to become change makers by participating in the audio-visual projects, joining the outreach team introducing the tools at our local schools, churches, and NGO's in our community, and lastly, by attending the grand opening celebration. Together, we, as Rotarians, can save lives within our community. I encourage you to ask a board member or call me and ask how you can become a game changer in behavioral health.

Special Program
May 12 Program- Elwyn Gaissert, Sr. Service Above Self Award

Elwyn Gaissert, Sr. Service Above Self Award and Foundation Major Donor / Paul Harris Fellow Recognition

This award is given annually to an outstanding Rotarian, chosen by past recipients, who has consistently placed Service Above Self. In 2005, upon his death, this award was named for Elwyn L Gaissert, Sr., the last charter member of Roswell Rotary Club.

Today we will also be recognizing 4 Major Donors and 27 Paul Harris Fellows who have faithfully given to The Rotary Foundation so that we may continue "To Do Good In The World".

Service project Opportunity
RRC & RAH- Please help out on Saturday May 14

Can you help?

Calling on Roswell Rotary and After Hours Club members:  The Drake House has a Graduate who needs help moving into their own new place on Sat, May 14th.  Can you help? Please reach out to John Greaves jgreavesatl@gmail.com to learn more. Targeting to have 10 people help this family move into their own place.

Details:  She will box up as much as she can and secure the truck.  Our job?  Show up to help with the packing, schlepping and muscle to move bigger items into the truck and out at the new apartment.  Then we'll need assistance putting beds and dressers together, curtain rods, general unpacking at the new house.

What to Bring: Please also tell John what items you can bring with you:  Cases of Bottled Water, Gloves, Cleaning Rags, Hand Trucks, Hand Tools (hammer, scissors, box cutters, etc.), Wrapping/Newspaper, Extra Boxes, Broom Dust Pan, etc.

Target time: 9am on Sat, May 14th. This will be confirmed later this week once the truck is confirmed.

Such a great testimony to The Drake House program when a graduate moves into their own apartment! And such a powerful opportunity for Rotary to serve!
