The Rotary Club of Griffin annually supports the Salvation Army by donating money and time to the Kettle Drive and the local Distribution Center. Rotarians, Interactors, family and friends staffed the kettle at the Griffin Kroger from November 21, 2014 through December 23, 2014. Salvation Army committee chairs George Granade and Wayne Gardner solicited volunteers from club and community to ring the bell.
Rotarian Josh Hinson of the Salvation Army brought cadets and the kettle to a meeeting of the club to make it easy for Griffin Rotarians to donate. The club donated $2,500 from its Project Fund to the kettle drive. Rotarians John and Steve Crouch challenged the club with a promise to match donations up to $1,000 and the club quickly responded with donations well in excess of that goal. The Griffin Rotary kettle raised over $20,000.00.
The Rotary Club of Griffin embraces the opportunity to assist the Salvation Army in helping almost 600 families, with over 1,125 children, in receiving over 7,500 toys.
Rotarians and Interactors met with other community volunteers at the Salvation Army Distribution Center located in the old Wal-Mart in Griffin. The Distribution Center was home to tons of food and toys that the Salvation Army distributed to families in need in Spalding County. The many volunteers made quick work of packing Christmas dinner into boxes for distribution.
The Rotary Club of Griffin is proud of its continuing partnership with the Salvation Army.
